Crystal Scientific is the specialist manufacturer of x-ray optics for synchrotron radiation applications. We invest in the latest manufacturing and characterisation tools. Crystal Scientific's deep understanding of the science and technology ensures that we supply optics that meet our customers' evolving needs. Our products are crucial to our customers' research at all the major synchrotrons worldwide. Breaking News Breaking News Crystal Scientific Produce 0.8 rads slope error with 1.5 rms roughness over 1m on Harmonic rejection mirrors for the Diamond Light Source (DLS). Crystal Scientific Receive Order for SXRMB Beamline Optical Components from the CLS The order consists of 3 Mirrors and 4 Crystals representing the complete optics for this beamline Pohang Metrology Team Visit to Inspect Our New 500sq Foot Class 1000 Clean Room. With the increasing demands on lower roughness values and minimal cosmetic defects, Crystal Scientific have purchased and installed a 500 sq foot class 1000 clean room. Our coating chamber and Zygo Newview Maxim GP interferometer have been relocated inside this room to offer our customers superb dust free mirror coatings. Pohang Accepts 3 Crystal Scientific 1.1m Mirrors Following the visit by Jong-Hyun Kim of the Metrology Lab, Pohang, two 1.1m flat mirrors and a 1.1m cylindrical mirror have been accepted with slope errors below 3urads and roughness values in the 3-4A range measured over 50 points on the optical surface. Accel Order completed for a 1.1m plano and 1.1m cylindrical mirror Accel have accepted a pair of mirrors for the Delta faculty after exhaustive testing on Crystal Scientific(UK) LTP. Tests were performed by Accel Staff using our LTP over a 3 Day period, the results were very encouraging realising <3 uradians over 1m with the mirrors mounted in the benders and tested over the full range of operation of the benders. The mirrors were bent to there minimum radii and repeatedly relaxed and re-bent. Surface roughness were measured on both In-House systems give values of 2.5-3.5A over the optical area. Daresbury 1.2M ULE Mirror Completed ( Cr over coat to reduce Pt edges) A 1.2m x 200mm wide mirror has been accepted by Bob Billsborough of Daresbury lab after a custom coating of a 6nm thick Chromium layer was coated on top of a 50nm Pt layer. Slope errors were 3uradians with surface roughness of 3A. CLS Accepts 9 Zerodur Mirrors of the IR beamlines After a long road of development the CLS has now accepted a package of mirrors which included 2 glidcop, 2 cylindrical mirrors and 5 plano mirrors. The glidcop mirrors were produced entirely in-house Ni coated with a Gold overcoat. The cylindrical mirrors were produced with a new pitch polishing process, while the plano mirrors were both optical flat to lambda/30 (measured on their new Zygo Verifire system) but also having slope errors below 1.5 uradians. Surface roughness values were also measured on the CLS system confirming roughness as low as 2.6A.
